106 of 181. On May 4th we take the vaporetto from San Mark's Square to San Giorgio Island to visit the church of the same name built between 1566 and 1610. The Campanile Bell Tower had been rebuilt 3 times. The first one collapsed in 1442 following strong winds. The second reinforced bell tower lasted 3 centuries until it too collapsed in 1774. The tower you see today was completed in 1791.
