The site originally was part of an urban development plan to construct an underground parking garage with a market above. During construction, ruins dating to Roman and Andalusian eras were discovered, and work was halted. An international competition took place in an attempt to develop the area again, and the result is the striking structure seen here, claiming to be the largest wooden structure in the world. |
