62 of 84. The museum building was originally a railway station built in time for the 1900 Paris Exposition. By 1939 it was no longer viable as a station as its platforms were too short for the longer trains that came into service. The station was set to be demolished in 1970 and replaced with a hotel. This plan was ruled against and in 1978 was placed on the list of Historic Monuments. The plan to turn the structure into a museum was accepted and it officially opened in December 1986. (Trivia - More metal was used in the construction of the station than the Eiffel Tower).
