046 of 120. Philopappos Hill is situated just southwest of the Acropolis. At its peak stands the marble Monument of Philopappos, erected between AD 114 - 116 in memory of this Roman dignitary. This is also the hill where in 1687 the Venetians shot the disastrous volley, accidentally detonating the Parthenon's gunpowder stores.
