099 of 123. The Duomo as viewed from the City Hall Tower. When Florence began construction of its grand cathedral, Siena decided to build an even larger cathedral of its own. If you looked down from the 'Panorama del Facciatone' (Shown by the arrow), facing the Apse to the right, you would be above the entrance. Unfortunately, there is nothing between you and the Apse as the project was never completed. A plague killed the city's ability to finish it.
